While she knows that her husband is merely a shepherd and would never be invited to sit with dignitaries, she is overjoyed with the news he came home to share with her one morning. She retells the story and is again amazed that God chose her husband to help spread the Good News of the coming Savior.
What would it have been like if Mary’s family didn’t at first believe her story about conceiving God’s baby? But no doubt, when Mary’s mother witnessed the Christ child for herself, she was amazed at what God had done and the fact that He chose to use her daughter to bring the Savior into the world.
Years after Jesus’ birth, Joseph remembers what it was like when he learned that Mary was pregnant. All these years later, he is still astounded at how God worked such a miracle when He sent an angel to announce the miraculous baby Mary would give birth to. He realizes that God did so much to open the door that let His Son into the world.
Though he was only 14 when it happened, the innkeeper’s son, now grown, recalls what it was like the night his dad made room in the barn at their inn for a desperate man and his pregnant wife. Looking at his dad as a hero, the innkeeper told his boy that it was God who was the true hero, sending His Son to save us all.
