Description: What is the soul of worship? Charlie Hall teaches us worship through the use of metaphors. As he walks us through these metaphors, he shows us how God shapes who we are and how you can guide your congregations as we lead worship. In this module, you will find four 3-5 minute devotional videos and a PDF study guide to enrich your team’s experience with the videos.

Devotional 1: The Bible uses rich language and imagery to describe worship, so it makes sense that we as creative people would follow suit. In this first session, Charlie shares one of several metaphors for worship that he’s received from the Lord. In Charlie’s testimony, we see that God delights in revealing Himself as we glorify His name.

Devotional 2:When we behold God, we are made new. Not only are we made new, we’re also set free. Of course, this angers the enemy, and he comes after our worship with the intent to silence us. Because we serve a mighty God who is at work within us, our every hallelujah becomes a battle cry. Charlie talks about worship as warfare and a window in this next session.

Devotional 3: As we continue this module on metaphors for worship, we begin to see that real transformation happens in us and our church when our outward posture aligns with our inner worshipper. God is elevated, regardless of how well we perform, so while we still strive for excellence, we can enter more fully into the moment knowing that the Spirit moves through our mistakes.

Devotional 4: We’ve heard it said in several different ways that our worship is for God first. We’re not putting on a show for His people, although we are leading by example and paving the way for them to join us in our praise. When we keep this truth at the forefront of all that we do in regard to worship, we’re able to enjoy God’s delight and offer Him adoration in return. The final session of this module is all about adopting a heavenly point of view.
