Your experience shapes your knowledge. There is no getting around that. Mother's Day is about moms, and the women in the video learned these things from being a mom. There are a million things I didn't know before being a dad. Being a dad has taught me these things. Would I have ever learned them otherwise? Maybe, who knows? But being a dad is how I learned them. The marginalization comes from the holiday itself, not from the content of this video. Great Job Journey Box!

Kevin O'Brien, thanks for the response! While I love both the humility and good intentions of the project's script as well as the excellent production, I still think the continuing phrase "Before I was a mother, I thought I knew...", and then the final phrase (as you corrected), "Before I was a mother, I THOUGHT I knew, but I realized I had a lot to learn..." still has the potential to marginalize and wound those who may not ever have the chance to become a mother. Maybe test run it? I did...

Really well done. Acting and cinematography are are on point. I do have one thought though. Does the narrator say the "beauty of magic" at 1:14? This just seems like a strange and not very biblical statement

Thanks for the kind words, Travis. The video is about the deepening of these understandings as motherhood progresses. It was important to us that we were specific in our wording to be sensitive to the complications of celebrating mothers (as you stated). The video doesn't say "but I had no idea", rather it says "I realized I had a lot to learn." It doesn't discredit what they knew at the time, but celebrates how much we learn as we grow being parents. Thanks for watching and your feedback.

Well made, nicely paced, etc. However...do i read this right in thinking that the video very clearly implies that if you have not yet become a mother or are unable to have children, you really haven't or are even unable to learn or understand all these things? The repeating gist of the video is "Before i became a mother, I THOUGHT I understood _______" ending with "But I had no idea". Seems like it would be incredibly insulting or wounding to those who have not or are unable to become moms.
