Your Behind-the-Scenes Look at We Are Mothers

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching. On this day, we recognize the women who have nurtured us. We honor the women who have sacrificed so much for their families. We celebrate the women who love their children unconditionally. There’s no doubt about it; moms are truly amazing in a number of ways. Do you think they fully understand just how special the title that has been bestowed upon them is?

This is for the women whose hearts are walking around outside of their bodies, who love children they didn’t birth, who can’t wait to hold the babies they couldn’t carry and the women who ache for a dream that can seem unseen. God chose you to take on the pain, the long nights, short years, and the incredible joy. He entrusted you with one of the hardest and holiest callings. YOU are a mother.

We Are Mothers is a heart-warming video from Playback Media, made in collaboration with Media That Matters. We wanted to create a mini movie for Mother’s Day that would serve as a reminder that the role that mothers and mother-figures play is so important. We hope that they will feel seen and appreciated as they take in the message of We are Mothers.

Relevant Scripture

Planning to use this video as an illustration for your sermon on Mother’s Day? We’ve picked some scripture that we think will also accompany the message well. In Scripture we find that motherhood is one of the greatest blessings and it teaches mothers that the role they play in their children’s life is critical as they lead them toward Christ.

Proverbs 31:26: “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”

Proverbs 31:28–29: “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.’

Proverbs 31:31: “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”

Genesis 3:20: “The man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.”

1 Peter 3:4: “You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.”

Deuteronomy 4:9: “Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.”

Proverbs 1:8-9: “Pay close attention, my child, to your father’s wise words and never forget your mother’s instructions. For their insight will bring you success, adorning you with grace-filled thoughts and giving you reins to guide your decisions.”

Proverbs 31:10: “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.”

Isaiah 66:13: “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you.”
