Being a part of a church community is tremendous! Going to church and celebrating our risen Lord with others who believe the same way is powerful and life-transforming. But have you noticed whenever we go to church and ask people how they are doing, the number one response is, “Good. good.” “I’m doing fine thanks.” I know that’s true, because that’s what I say as well. Well think about that for a moment. Is that the truth? Is that really the case? We are a redeemed people, yes! But we are also a broken people. It is true we are free from the penalty and power of sin, but the presence and impact of sin in our lives is very real indeed. The affects and influences of this world also impact each of our lives in a unique way. I just watched this new mini movie by James Grochowalski and, well, let me be real, I about broke down at my desk.
My heart broke, and the tears started flowing. Seeing this “cool” guy who looks like he’s got it all figured out, then listening to the story made me remember that people are broken and need…no…desperately need to hear that Jesus loves them. Whether believers or not, people need to know, and be reminded of this on a regular basis. Please take a minute to watch this mini movie called, Jesus Loves Me and be reminded of a few things:
- People are broken – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
- People can have secret sins and secret brokenness that no one knows about – “You have placed our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your presence.” Psalm 90:8
- Jesus, in the midst of our brokenness and despair, can raise us to new life – “But God being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5
- If you are in Christ, then you are FREE from condemnation – Romans 8:1
