The rise of technology has changed the way we share, connect, and communicate with others. Some experts believe that this change has been detrimental to the human brain and others believe it has allowed us to be more creative and think more clearly. For better or for worse, technology has rewired our brains.

Mashable recently posted a new article on 8 Ways Tech Has Completely Rewired Our Brains. In the article, they take a look at the ways television, social media, smartphones, and tablets have shaped our brains and bodies.

For example, have you ever “heard” your phone vibrating only to realize it was never really ringing at all? Well in 2012 they actually did a study on this phenomenon called “phantom vibrations.” They found that out of 290 undergraduate students, 89% of them reporting feeling phantom vibrations once every two weeks.

In contrast, the article mentions that technology encourages us to be more creative. I can only speak for myself but since the rise of Pinterest, there has been an increase in the number of DIY projects occurring in my house. The ease of access to social media sites promotes sharing whether it is a new art project, a book you recently read, an image you took, or a DIY project.

Check out the article here and learn more about how technology has rewired our brains.

Can you think of any more ways the human brain has been changed by technology?
