Someone on the leadership team at your church had a brilliant idea for a new event. The idea was passionately presented, carefully considered, and planned with precision. This event is going to be epic, the stuff of legends. People are going to be served in incredible ways… if you can just get them to show up.
This is the part that most of us struggle with. How do we make sure that we’re communicating clearly, fully, and frequently to our folks in such a way that they’ll remember the event, and feel compelled to attend?
As the media gal/guy, you can help your church communicate important events and information through your presentation. Here are a few ways you can help.
Pre-service Slides
Chances are, folks start arriving to church before you start your countdown. They find their spot, sit down, and look forward. Why not tell them what’s going on? Creating a short announcement loop is really easy. Just create a slideshow in Keynote or PowerPoint and export it as a movie. Add that movie to your slideshow and set it to loop. I usually start playing this about 20 minutes before the service starts.
*I also play this loop after the service ends for folks who stick around.
Service Slides
If your church has someone who makes live announcements during your service, take the slides you created for the video above, and display them as she/he is talking about a specific event. Don’t just tell, show.
Make Your Announcement Slides Pretty
We have a number of great tools at WorshipHouse that you can use to make your announcement slides look great. I love a good splash screen to intro the loop. You can find our best-sellers here.
Want to make your individual event slides look really sharp, but you’re not a designer? We have literally hundreds of stills that you can use to spruce up your presentation. Check them all out here.
Also, don’t forget to think beyond the event. This is a great time to promote your church’s Facebook page or twitter feed. Use some of our social media splash screens here.
