Your Behind-the-Scenes Look at “Another In The Fire Spoken Word”

It’s inevitable. Darkness creeps in and reminds us that the enemy is near and it can make us feel like there is no way out. When that fire comes, and it will, we must remember what Power lives in us. God is faithful and he is with us, regardless of what might shake us now or what trials and tribulations await in our future.

We asked Scott Trapasso, the director of this video, a few questions about the process of putting this mini movie together, the message he wanted to share, and his vision for this piece. Here is your inside look at “Another In The Fire Spoken Word”:

Q: Why did you make this video?

A: After hearing the song track, “Another In The Fire” several years ago, I always felt like there was obviously a strong visual to the lyrics. I have always loved the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. I can remember hearing that story way back when I was in Sunday School, and our teacher illustrated the story on her felt board with the little felt cut-out bible characters… So when we thought about doing an intro video to a worship song, it just felt like the right fit; a strong visual reference in a song that could easily be illustrated on camera.

Q: What went into making this really special?

A: We went into this project with BIG expectations. I mean… fire is cool, right? But what people likely don’t understand is that creating a triangle of fire 20 feet on each side is no easy task… it’s also really hot.. and dangerous. So while the concept and idea seemed to work on paper, the execution was a whole different thing. We had our propane gas bars custom made, and our special effects people did some tests to see if this was even possible. When it came time for our shoot day, we were definitely all a little nervous, and not sure what to expect, and I think that’s what makes projects like this so special, is that you really don’t know what’s going to happen or what it’s going to look like until you try. Personally, I’d never seen anyone do this (other than the movies), so what makes this project so special to me is the “God Factor”. We planned as much as we could plan. We prepared as much as we could prepare, but at the end of the day, the final product is a mixture of all that effort AND what God wanted to do. For me, stepping out in faith to try something we had never seen done, was a big deal, and God certainly did show up to make this project what it is.

Q: What is our hope for how churches will be able to use it?

A: I hope that this piece can be used in collaboration with the track “Another In The Fire” or as a stand alone creative piece. I hope it will stir people into a real life visual reminder of what it means to be surrounded by fire, see no way out, but know that God isn’t some distant God in the clouds, but rather He is right there with you… IN THE FIRE. We all need that reminder sometimes, that God is literally with us, even in everyday simple situations when you are stressed or anxious, and in big situations like facing a health crisis or losing a loved one. My prayer is that many would be reminded of how close God is to us at all times.

The part of the video that stands out to me the most is the line about how God is our deliverer and He will deliver us, But even if He doesn’t… I’LL STILL STAND.   That line sums up our heart behind this project and projects we work on for churches.  We must have courage enough to step into the fire, or walk through the fire, and know He is with us always.

Making this project was a step of faith, acting out of what God had put on my heart.  I don’t have to worry about who sees it or uses it… that’s God’s work… that God’s territory.   So in a weird way, this project is about obedience and trust, and Another In The Fire will always serve as a reminder of that to me.
